Emlid turns 10!

A decade-long mission, impossible without you

It all began with a like-minded crowd

We started Emlid in 2014 as two students with the idea that high-precision positioning should be easy to use and available to everyone.

In 2015, our first Reach prototype sparked a crowdfunding success, with $81,960 from 172 backers — more than enough to build the first batch and kick-start our sales.

When every order feels personal

Our first customers, hardcore DIY hackers, used Emlid to add precise XYZs to a fleet of amazing gadgets. They took Reach modules into the field in tupperwares, powered by battery packs.

At that time every order felt personal, and we couldn't even imagine that in ten years Reach receivers would help explore space, survey glaciers, arrange mixed reality races, or save wild trout.

Not to mention thousands of high-precision surveying and mapping jobs completed per day in more than 110 countries.

Survey-grade precision available to everyone

Thanks to the huge community support, we've never used investment dollars, bootstrapping all the way through to a team of 100. It also made us 100% focused on our users, as these are the only people to whom we are responsible.

So far, we've released nine Reach models, building every new generation on the feedback from our community. Our latest Reach RS3 is light-years ahead from the very first Reach, yet we stay true to keeping our gear as intuitive and fairly priced as possible.

Without you – our users, partners, fans, and critics – we would have never made it here. Thank you for believing in us and making this all possible!
